In Toronto, there are hundreds of organizations that provide services to people with disabilities. For some people, finding the right service can be overwhelming and obtaining accurate information can be confusing or difficult.

CILT maintains a wide variety of resources about services in Toronto including consumer-validated information which is drawn from the real-life experiences of persons living independently in the community with a disability.

It is individual's right to know all of the options available to him or her. CILT provides the information about services, programs, etc. so that an informed decision can be made.

The Information and Referral Program at CILT services people with disabilities, service providers, family members and researchers with information and referral for just about anything pertaining to disability issues; for example:
  • Information regarding Independent Living
  • Housing information, referrals, vacancies
  • Attendant services options, Direct Funding Program
  • Project Information Centre (a central database)
  • Transportation options, accessible hotels, restaurants and
  • Employment information, referrals, job opportunities

Also part of the Information and Referral Program is an Information Newsline, which is accessible by a touch-tone telephone. With this, you can access information pertaining to:

  • CILT programs, services, activities
  • Community events and programs
  • Employment services and opportunities
  • Housing vacancies and
  • Items for sale

CILT also has a reference library and publishes a quarterly newsletter "CILT - In the Stream."
